ANR is forming task forces to evaluate UC Cooperative Extension structure in the counties. Cooperative Extension advisors and county-based program representatives are being asked to nominate one person per county to join the county director for their respective county on a county structure task force. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 20.
The county structure task forces will be charged with collecting the data on staffing, facilities, transportation, information technology and administration for their county CE programs, including funding from UC, county government, grants and other sources. Dear Colleagues,
We have completed the merit and promotion cycle for 2009-2010. More than 80 actions were processed statewide for UC ANR academics.
I am grateful to the academics who served on the Senior Administrative Council (SAC) this cycle – Peggy Mauk, Linda Manton, Bill Frost, Steve Vasquez, Terry Salmon and Lucia Kaiser. This University service is extraordinary and allowed the process some stability during this time of transition.
I am working with AVP Barbara Allen-Diaz and the Executive Working Group to develop the new merit and promotion process reflecting our shared goals to maintain academic excellence, streamline the process and provide peer review input. Academic Assembly Council, the Personnel...

The Executive Working Group and county directors are meeting today (June 8) to discuss potential future directions of UC’s Cooperative Extension partnership with county government. We will be discussing how we operate and new expectations for roles, responsibilities and leadership for all of us.

Inherent in this challenge is the fact that we’ve lost close to 50% of our academics and our county partners are currently reacting to lower revenues with an expectation that revenues will be insufficient to support the existing county governmental structures.
To gather input on how we might achieve...

PC to include county-based members
With input from the current regional directors and other ANR academics, the Executive Working Group and Program Council have agreed on the importance of adding county-based academics with a statewide perspective to Program Council.
Barbara Allen-Diaz, AVP-Strategic Initiatives and Academic Programs, has announced that when the two remaining regional directors leave Program Council on July 1, county-based academics will be appointed. The selection process for these positions has not been determined. Allen-Diaz has already asked Academic Assembly Council for input and will seek input from across the ANR community to choose county-based...
