Vice President Allen-Diaz announced in March that the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources will be consolidating over 150 employees into one location in East Davis. ANR reached an agreement with John Buckel and Rod Johnson of Capital Partners Development Company and Sam, Gwen and Jeff Harrison of the Davis Indoor Sports Center, LLC, for the purchase and renovation of the building located at 2801 Second Street in Davis. MFDB Architects is the project architect, Harrison Construction Company is the general contractor, and Jim Gray and Nahz Anvary of Cassidy Turley are the brokers. The groundbreaking was held April 2.

UC President Mark G. Yudof will answer employee questions at the fifth annual President’s Town Hall, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, in downtown Oakland. The event will be webcast live via UC’s UStream channel.
The event, sponsored by the Office of the President Staff Assembly, gives staff an opportunity to hear and speak directly with President Yudof about the challenges and opportunities facing the university as well as other matters of concern to the UCOP community. With President Yudof stepping down on Aug. 31, this will be his final staff town hall event.

The 2013 ANR Competitive Grants – Request for Proposals (RFP) will be released on Monday, June 17, 2013. A full announcement, including Web links to the full RFP, will be in ANR Update, on the UC ANR Portal and distributed via the ANR Notification system and other means.
The RFP will seek proposals for projects of 1 to 5 years including small, medium and large projects up to $500,000. Some changes to the RFP are the result of the PACE (Partnership to Advance Cooperative Extension) effort.

Taking into consideration several comments from the Partnership to Advance Cooperative Extension (PACE) effort and others, we have made significant changes to this year’s competitive grants proposal process. The program is similar to last year’s with the additions of the following:
- PIs can submit proposals for research and/or extension projects.
- Early-career academics are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Cross-initiative proposals are strongly encouraged.

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you that the University will be implementing systemwide salary increases for the 2013-14 fiscal year for all non-represented career staff employees.
The increases, which were authorized by President Yudof, are intended to acknowledge the fact that non-represented staff employees have received only one general salary increase in the past five years. The increases also are intended to partially offset increased retirement and health benefit costs that faculty and staff have absorbed over the past few years.
