A tough problem-post my retirement year in Kern County. With over 200 food crops raised in CA, it will resolve differently than in the corn/soybean/wheat zone. I think mechanization might help in the USA and Canada, but hand labor is mostly the best elsewhere. Let me think about it for ?? years. Steve Fennemore can steer well.
Organic farming is so overly touted by the urban people. All [statistically] think it is the answer, not realizing that chicken, cow, pig, horse manure bring in weeds with the poop and if coyotes bring in e-coli, what about the poop of your choice. Not listed on your organic grocery stores. We have good products for root nematodes; now to add to the list of pests needing control.
