Driving down 113 today and I noticed that there are two rows of sunflower plants that were smaller with smaller flowers than the several rows that followed, it was like 2 rows of small then10 rows of larger plants then the 2 smaller and so on, why is that?

After reading this article is this a good flower to plant on 6 acres of land this year we have rye grass growing here but want to start a sunflower business thank
