Kathy, these are amazing pics! I love my carpenter bee visitors. Salvias are definitely their favorites.

Very informative post. I have many of these industrious gals in my salvia beginning very early in the bloom season. They are my early morning garden buddies!

Today May 5, 2020 at 11:00 am, I saw for the first time the "teddy bear" bee enjoying our salvia in the garden.
It was a wonderful sight! My daughter said she saw him yesterday

Today I saw a female carpenter bee I had never seen one before. She was larger than the other bees and I was able to take a few pics with my phone I sure like to see a male carpenter bee; that will have to be on my bucket list Thank you for your site; now I know she was a Valley carpenter bee Very nice and very cool. She likes almond blossoms, too.

Thanks for this great information, and the full name of this industrious bee. I live in the San Joaquin Valley, CA and have had more of these visitors this year than in previous years. They are loving: the Clarkia, Blanketflower and California golden poppies in my yard.
