Thank you for sharing this useful information about tarantulas – a remarkable family of arachnids that can be both majestic and frightening (for some, sadly) to encounter in the wild. The last two sentences of this article seem to suggest it's acceptable to collect tarantulas from the wild and keep them as pets. I totally understand the temptation, and there may be educational value in collecting and appreciating wild tarantulas; however, as a biologist, I consider this an irresponsible practice that's generally bad for the population of most species.

Hi Fritz, thank you for your insights. We understand and do not disagree with your perspective on collecting tarantulas. Here, the author thought it was important to address the common temptation to collect tarantulas so people will have a better understanding of what they're in for should they choose to do some collecting.
