Really interesting! Folks today are so worried about expiration dates, throwing things away that are still good. (See the study guide for reappointment) And that Appert jar is beautiful.

--Yes, the study guide is great. I am going to post that info now, about the expiration date.

Darrell was having some problem with posting a comment, so I am helping him out:
There is a link within the article that suggests canning breads. This ONLY refers to commercially processed products such as Brown Bread in a can, NOT home canning.
There are no safe, tested, or recommended processes for home canning cakes, breads, bread pudding, fruit crisps or cobblers.
The take-away here is to stick to science based sources of information: University Extension services, the National Center for Home Food Preservation, So Easy to Preserve book from the UoG, Purdue University, the Ball Blue Book and the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning.
This is good to remember--thank you Darrell!

I don't believe they are on our approved source list for teaching. I figure they are OK for information.

I thought Bernardin and Healthy Canning would be on the list of approved sources.

Bernardin is in Canada--we use U.S. sources.
