Thanks for this article. Great work, Vikki! I'm impressed by the oak tree grown from an acorn. We're worried for our oak trees, with spotted oak borer AND Edison's tree contractors unleashed on our properties. Our neighborhood has lost several magestic old-growth oak trees in the last year. I've got two kinds of acorns saved up in the Mountain S.B. Regional Seed Library. I have Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii) and Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis). I'll check to see if they're viable, and maybe get some new trees started.
