Does this mean you shouldn’t use compost tea from fresh manure? I’ve never heard of this as a caution for compost tea but would love to know before we water all our lettuce with it!

Laurie,
Please see "Key Points of Control and Management for Microbial Food Safety: Edible Landscape Plants and Home Garden Produce" at https://anrcatalog.ucanr.edu/pdf/8101.pdf and https://gaps.cornell.edu/educational-materials/decision-trees/soil-amendments/ which states "There is no application restriction on using compost tea made from PROPERLY COMPOSTED MANURE, though it should only contact the soil and not the edible portion of the crop."
