Are the trees in front of the apartment looking buildings strawberry trees? I was fascinated seeing them for the first time. I did a search online to try to figure out what kind of tree it was. That's how I found this blog.

Sometime about 1969 I took a summer job doing yard on Mare Island. When I was cleaning around a tree that had a sign on it. The sign said the tree was a Bunya Bunya tree planted I think in 1888. As I raked around the tree, I heard several loud noises coming from above me. I looked up at the same time a cone hit the ground about ten feet away from me. I took the cone home with me and weighed it. It weighed 20 lbs.
