Who We Are

The University of California Cooperative Extension Program in Plumas and Sierra Counties is part of a statewide system that makes University of California research-based information available to local agencies, industries, and the general public.  Backed by resources at the ten University of California campuses, our educational programs use practical information to address community challenges focused on sustaining agricultural vitality, enhancing natural resources, youth and leadership development along with helping communities shape sound public policy.

Livestock and Range Management

Our livestock and natural resources program addresses important issues at the interface of livestock production systems, natural resources management, and watershed health. Emphasis is on sustainable commercial beef cattle and small ruminant production systems.

Agricultural and Invasive Weeds

Our weed science program includes agricultural (rangeland and crop) and invasive weed control (chemical, mechanical, cultural, and biological control), weed ecology, weed monitoring and forecasting, vegetation restoration, and integrated control strategies.
