Dried plant arrangements are becoming increasing popular for home and event decor. Much is available to purchase at local retailers. However, gardeners have a unique advantage of having existing plants in their very own gardens such as:

• Leaves/bundles - fallen autumn colored leaves, ferns, eucalyptus, pine and more. 

• Ornamental grass - pampas, little yellow, bunny tail, purple fountain gras, trim, Ruby red silk, sudan, bear. 

• Herbs - lavender, rosemary oregano, thyme, 

• Branches - fallen branches can be quite beautiful in dried arrangements. 

• Flowers - roses, hydrangea, baby's breath, globe thistle, corn flower, sun flower, dahlia, daisy, carnation. 

• Fruit - sliced strawberries, citrus (slices or outside peel), apples and pears. 

Simply expose the leaves, flowers and herbs to warm, dry air. Hang or lay in a well ventilated area until the moisture evaporates. Sun drying is not recommended because plants can loose their color. Uses: small or large vases, place settings, center pieces, create a dried arrangement chandelier, add dried arrangement to existing chandelier, mantle, shelving and even Christmas trees. Additional tools for decorating could include: twist ties, twine and plant clips. Dried plants decor can be used year round or stored and reused for the holiday seasons.
