4-H Adult Volunteers

Volunteers are a key part of the 4-H Youth Development Program. By volunteering, you are helping to grow the skills of 4-H youth to be future leaders. Volunteering in 4-H is flexible and rewarding. Share your expertise and experience with the youth and other volunteers to make things happen!

4-H Adult Volunteers must be at least 18 years old complete enrollment BEFORE participating in the 4-H program. All 4-H adult volunteers must apply and be appointed annually.

Project Leaders

Do you have an interest or passion you would like to share with the youth in our community? Consider serving at a 4-H Project Leader. 

Project Leaders establish an engaging, safe environment in which 4-H’ers build relationships and learn by doing. In this way, you help youth to develop life skills that can be used now, and throughout their lives. Being a Project Leader takes time, and your performance will not always be perfect, but it is okay to make mistakes. This gives the members the example of learning from a mistake and moving forward. Helping young people develop into responsible and caring adults is essential to the future of our country and our world.

Requirements:

  • Current 4-H Adult Volunteer
  • At Least 18 Years Old
  • Project-specific content knowledge or willingness to learn and teach others on project educational content

Community Club Leaders

Club Leaders provide support and knowledge to organize members and adult volunteers to reach their full potential. They oversee the structure of the club, work alongside members, member officers/leaders, volunteers, and families to ensure that safe environments are maintained, and caring relationships are developed. They create learning opportunities so that members can make decisions, serve others, and practice teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Being a Club Leader is not easy and performance will not always be perfect, and it is okay to make mistakes. This gives members the example of learning from a mistake and moving forward.

Requirements:

  • Current 4-H Adult Volunteer
  • At Least 21 Years Old
  • Experienced 4-H Volunteer in good standing with the county

Kings County 4-H Leaders Council

All Kings County 4-H Volunteers, Parents, and Senior Youth Members are invited to attend the Kings County 4-H Leaders Council Meetings held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the UCCE Kings Multi-Purpose Room. Leaders Council meetings are consist of event planning, grant approvals, networking, and staff updates - please join us and offer your feedback to make our local 4-H program the best it can be!

Kings County 4-H Sponsoring Committee

The Sponsoring Committee consists of community members who have a shared passion for the support and advancement of 4-H program in Kings County. This committee raises funds annually to help support some of the major events which are held each year and provides opportunities for members and leaders to be recognized for outstanding achievements and to receive additional training.  Additionally, funds are used to promote 4-H in the community to reach more young people and their families. For the past several years, the Kings County 4-H Sponsoring Committee has paid for all enrollment fees for both youth members and adult volunteers making the program accessible to all families in our community.

4-H Grows Committee

The Kings County 4-H Grows Committee functions to help expand 4-H YDP opportunities for all youth in the county that includes attention to race/ethnicity, age, gender, locale (rural or urban), disability, parity within community populations, and varied needs and interests to strengthen
approaches to 4-H YDP delivery that reaches all youth. The 4-H Grows Committee has the authority and responsibility to develop and implement
action plans to ensure 4-H YDP growth through actions, decisions, and norms emphasizing growing a connected community tailored to the needs, cultures, and interests of youth. The output of this work, at a minimum, is to achieve parity through a variety of program opportunities.
