Our 4-H and Calfresh Healthy Living Ambassador (HLA) Program is expanding. This year we piloted a Fall Session of our teens as teachers program. Beginning in October, the teens taught a one hour lesson, one day a week, for 6 weeks at John F. Kennedy Elementary in Daly City and San Mateo Park Elementary in San Mateo. These lessons were focused primarily on physical activities, with a smaller component on gardening and nutrition. 

The 3^rd graders were led by teen teachers in an hour of engaging outdoor games. The children learned new versions of tag, a novel way to play Rock/Paper/Scissors, multiple styles of frisbee toss, and other novel group games. By the end of each hour the children were rosy-cheeked and laughing, having just experienced a real time lesson on the benefits of physical activity.
