Camp Overview

The 2026 Nevada County 4-H Summer Camp is held at Donner Mine Camp, located at the Zeibright Gold Mine in Bear Valley off Highway 20.

Campers enjoy a variety of activities throughout the week, including:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Sports and group games
  • Outdoor activities
  • Campfire programs

Campers are placed in small groups for daytime activities and are guided by trained youth camp staff.

Meals are prepared by experienced cooks, and a licensed nurse is on site at all times.

What Should My Child Bring?

Campers stay in dorm-style cabins with bunk beds. Housing is separated by gender. Each camper is part of a small group supervised by trained teen staff and adult chaperones.

Campers should bring the following items:

  • Sleeping bag, pillow, and blanket
  • One set of camp-appropriate clothing for each day
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Bug spray
  • Flashlight
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)
  • Towel for showers
  • Reusable water bottle

Restrooms with showers are available on site.

Please do not bring:

  • Food or candy
  • Scented lotions or sprays
  • Electronics

A detailed packing list will be provided.

Who Is Responsible for My Child?

Camper safety is our top priority. Trained youth counselors, trained and certified adult volunteers, and 4-H staff provide supervision at all times.

We focus on both physical and emotional safety during all camp activities.

  • A licensed nurse manages medications and provides first aid
  • Emergency procedures follow University of California guidelines
  • All staff complete required training before camp begins

Can Non–4-H Members Attend?

Yes. Youth who are at least 9 years old by July 19, 2026 may attend camp.

Youth who are not current 4-H members must:

  1. Enroll online at 4h.zsuite.org (opens in a new window)
  2. Pay the $67 enrollment fee
  3. Pay the camp registration fee

Camp Adult Chaperones

We are seeking adult volunteers who want to support youth and enjoy the outdoors.

Camp takes place July 21–25, 2026, at Donner Mine Camp near Nevada City.

  • Must be at least 24 years old
  • Must be enrolled as a certified 4-H adult volunteer
  • Must have current First Aid and CPR certification

If you need First Aid or CPR certification, we can provide a list of training options (online or in person).
