Every year through our volunteer activities, San Diego County Master Gardeners reach thousands of people in countless ways as we aim to build a greener and healthier San Diego. Trained by horticulture experts under the University of California’s Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the mission of Master Gardeners is to teach the community science-based gardening and sustainability techniques and how they can safely resolve pest problems in their gardens.

We educate our community through schools, community gardens, churches, hospitals, memory care centers, youth transition centers and social media. We provide gardening experiences to people of every age, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. We help new and decades-long gardeners and everyone in between.

Our work impacts San Diego in a multitude of positive ways, one garden at a time.
