2026 2nd Report --April 22

After the record heat in March, April has cooled to more normal temperatures. Thrips generation predictions have not changed much since last update. We’re approaching the peak of the second generation; adults are feeding and laying their eggs. The third generation is currently predicted to peak around the end of May.

We have started to monitor thrips in pepper and tomato fields in historic TSWV hotspots around Yolo and Solano counties. So far, we are seeing lower thrips populations than at this time last year, and very little TSWV.
