UC Master Gardeners will guide you through selecting the right containers, choosing the best soil and amendments, and exploring tomato varieties that thrive with this setup. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a beginner, you’ll leave with valuable tips and inspiration.

UC Master Gardener Presenter: Leslie Terzian Markoff is a native Northern Californian, shaped by childhood in the mountains and playing in the orchards and fields of Southern California. Her love of the natural world drew her into basketry, natural dyes, and handweaving — and a long career in woven fabric design and manufacturing that included collaborative projects with Fibershed. She became a UC Master Gardener in 2024, teaming up with three fellow Master Gardeners on a case study of growing tomatoes in containers in San Francisco. She volunteers at the Gardening Education Center in San Mateo and the Master Gardener Helpline.
