  • Support UC and non-UC researchers
  • Modernize facilities and operational infrastructure
  • Strengthen integration with California’s agricultural communities

The South Coast REC project includes development of an approximately 9,700-square-foot engagement center on a 1.6-acre site.

Planned improvements include:

A 270-person conference room
Administrative offices
A small laboratory area
A test kitchen
Outdoor laboratory and gathering spaces
Native landscaping and arroyos
Improved paved parking

The project is currently completing design and entering the permitting phase, with construction anticipated to begin in September.

Desert Research & Extension Center

The Desert REC engagement center is planned as an approximately 7,500-square-foot facility with a similar program and design approach.

The project is currently finalizing design and entering permitting, with construction anticipated to begin in November.

Additional planned initiatives include:

  • Hansen REC Engagement Center
  • Lindcove REC Citrus Research & Facilities Building
