2026 4-H Scholarships

San Joaquin County 4-H Scholarship Application Instructions

Deadline for submission is June 5, 2026 

Read these instructions carefully and follow all directions before completing the online application. 

Thank you for your interest in applying for a scholarship from the San Joaquin County 4-H Leaders Council and the San Joaquin County 4-H Foundation. Scholarship selections are based on the applicant's achievements, leadership, scholastic record, and financial need.
 

Basic Requirements:
▪All applicants must have been a current or former 4-H member who participated in SanJoaquin County 4-H
▪All applicants must have been a 4-H member at the time of their high school graduation or equivalency,
▪All applicants must not be older than 25 by December 31, 2025.
▪All applicants must be seeking to further their education beyond high school.

The scholarship application has two steps, which are listed below.
 

Step 1: The Online Application 

During this first step of the process, you will be required to submit an online application with the following items as electronic attachments in PDF or Word format:
Cover Letter - A good cover letter should be written professionally. It should introduce yourself, provide the context or background regarding why you feel you deserve a scholarship, and describe how the funds will help you in your education and future career.
Current Official Transcript - You must obtain an official transcript from your current academic institution and provide a copy. If your school only mails official copies, request that the copy be sent to the San Joaquin County 4-H Office at 2101 East Earhart Avenue, Suite 200, Stockton, CA 95206. Upload the official copy or a statement that the school is mailing the official copy directly to our office. Make sure we receive it by June 20, 2026.
Your Resume - This should be a standard resume with a section detailing your 4-H experiences including your participation and accomplishments in the 4-H program. The document can be more than one page long and can be separated into two sections - the professional resume on page one and the 4-H resume on page 2. Please make sure both sections are uploaded as one electronic document when submitted.
Letter of Recommendation - This letter should be from an adult, non-family member. The letter must be written within the previous 12 months. A letter used previously or written from before May 2025 will not be accepted.
 

Step 2: The Interview 

The second step of the process is a mandatory interview with the scholarship judges. The interviews will take place on Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17. In person Interviews via zoom will be considered for special circumstances. Please state your preference for interview days and your
available times at the end of the application. You will be contacted once the application period ends to confirm your interview date. 

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
Besides the basic requirements listed in the instruction sheet, some scholarships have additional requirements or preferences which are listed below. The additional requirements listed for a particular scholarship must be met to be considered for that scholarship. Listed preferences are flexible for consideration. Individual scholarship amounts are listed with the corresponding scholarship description. On the application, you must place a check next to the scholarships for which you would like to apply. You will not be considered for any scholarship you do not select. If you do not meet the specified requirements for any one scholarship, you will not be considered for it, even if you have checked the box.


The San Joaquin County 4-H Leaders Council and the San Joaquin County 4-H Foundation offer the following scholarships:


Aurelia Turbetti 4-H Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship available.
Preference: applicants who wish to further their skills and education in the areas of Culinary Arts, Food Science, and Nutrition.


Soren & Birgit Hempel Memorial Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship available.
Preference: applicants who have achieved the rank of All Star or County Ambassador and are attending San Joaquin Delta College or other Junior Colleges.


Rosemarie & Franklin "Frank" Woods Memorial Scholarship
Two $1,250 scholarships available.
 

San Joaquin County 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Two $1,250 scholarships available.
Requirements: applicants must have demonstrated outstanding leadership and citizenship activities on a countywide basis.
Preference: applicants who have achieved leadership and citizenship activity accomplishments at the state, regional, or national level.


Ironstone Concurs Foundation Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship available.
Requirement: a GPA of 3.0 or higher, held club or county officer position, and will be attending community college, four-year college or university including graduate school.
