Copyright Copyright in all UC ANR Publications is held by the Regents of the University of California. Authors publishing with UC ANR Publications assign copyright to UC ANR as a condition of publication.

License Open Access titles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license. Under this license, anyone may freely access, download, and share UC ANR Publications for non-commercial purposes, provided that:

• Attribution is given to UC ANR as the copyright holder and the original authors are credited;
• The material is not used for commercial purposes;
• The material is not adapted, remixed, or built upon without prior written permission from UC ANR Publications.

Access Open Access publications are freely available to download from the UC ANR Publications website at no charge. Print copies, where available, may be subject to a fee to cover production and distribution costs.
