UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a division of the University of California, reporting to the UC Office of the President. Unlike UC's 10 campuses, UC ANR has no students of its own. Instead, our work extends the university's research and expertise into every corner of California—serving farmers, families, and communities through science-based education, outreach, and applied research.

What We Do
UC ANR's work reaches all 58 California counties through two core programs: the Agricultural Experiment Station, which supports research at UC campuses, and UC Cooperative Extension, which puts that research to work in local communities through county offices and advisors based across the state. We also administer 14 statewide programs and institutes focused on issues including wildfire resilience, food systems, nutrition, and youth development.
Our Place in the UC System
The University of California has 10 campuses—from Berkeley to Merced to San Diego. UC ANR sits alongside them as a division of the UC system, but our footprint looks different: rather than a single campus, we operate through a network of county offices, research and extension centers, and academics embedded at UC campuses statewide. In many parts of California, UC ANR is the only face of the university that residents ever encounter.
