Topic: Plant Growth Regulators and California Citrus - Review and Updates, Dr. Mary Lu Arpaia, UCR

The first webinar will feature Dr. Mary Lu Arpaia, a statewide extension specialist for subtropical fruit at UC Riverside. The topic will provide a comprehensive review of plant growth regulators (PGRs) currently available to the California citrus industry. The presentation will cover historical and current uses of PGRs, their effects on citrus production, and the importance of proper 2,4-D timing in relation to the premature fruit drop observed during Fall 2025. This session will provide valuable information for growers evaluating tools to improve fruit retention and production efficiency.

The second webinar will highlight updates from California Citrus Research and Field Trials (CA-CRaFT), by Dr. Ivan Milosavljević IPM Entomologist at CRB. This topic will provide an overview of the CA-CRaFT collaborative program launched in 2023 to develop practical Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) management strategies under commercial field conditions. Topics will include canine-assisted ACP detection, field scouting programs, tap sampling, sticky traps, drone imagery, and regional monitoring efforts. Presenter will also discuss expanding CA-CRaFT activities into Ventura County, advances in biological control using Tamarixia radiata, and ongoing Argentine ant management efforts that support successful biological control programs.
