Beatriz Nobua-Behrmann
Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Advisor

I’ve been with UC ANR since 2017 and have served as the Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Advisor for Los Angeles and Orange Counties since 2019. I’m originally from Argentina and earned my PhD in Biology from the University of Buenos Aires, where I began my work on insect-plant interactions—an area I’ve been passionate about throughout my career.

My work focuses on protecting California’s urban forests from invasive pests and supporting healthy, resilient green spaces across communities. I believe trees are not only vital natural resources, but also essential to the well-being of the people who live among them. Through research, outreach, and collaboration, I aim to help urban forests thrive and ensure they remain a lasting source of shade, beauty, and biodiversity.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and exploring natural areas—always finding inspiration in the ecosystems I’m working to protect.
