Photo Information Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) with Native Bee and Butterfly

Description Milkweeds are important plants to include in native gardens. They are nectar sources for our native pollinators (as seen in this photo). Their leaves are the only food source for monarch butterfly larvae, which have been in dwindling populations in recent years. Milkweed is beneficial, too, to nearby plants, repelling insect pests in our native gardens.
