Description This photo features our California Native Demonstration Garden at the Santa Clara County offices. This area was formerly a large berm of grass in full southern exposure sun. 4 years ago Santa Clara County Master Gardens worked with the County to transform this area to a California Native garden. The garden was designed by Master Gardener, Rebecca Schoenenberger, who is also a professional Landscape Contractor. The garden was specifically designed to highlight the California Native plants that are UC Davis Arboretum Allstars. The design was implemented by Santa Clara County Master Gardeners using sheet mulching techniques. This photo is from this past Spring when we had the garden on the Going Native Garden Tour. After several years of drought, and then good Winter rains, we had a great wildflower showing. Pictured is Lupinus microcarpus - Chick Lupine & Lupinus succulentus - Arroyo Lupine. California Poppies and a Western Redbud fill the background with a rainbow of colors.
