Description I took this photo of the front yard in early Spring. This drought-tolerant golden field of California poppies is complimented by the blue flowers of Ceanothus or California lilac; while white Watsonia flower spikes wait for their turn. This approximately 20-feet deep bed of drought-tolerant plants also serves as border to protect the young food forest planted closer to the house; and if one looks closer, on the far end next to the curb, are leaves of naked lady lilies (Amaryllis belladonna) peeking out of the California poppies, ready to bloom in late summer.
