Description	How best to brighten deep shade of a mature Chinese Pistache tree at the bottom of a driveway? A galvanized water trough becomes 'driveway jewelry', planted with shade tolerant, low water succulents like Sansevieria trifasciata, Senecio varieties and a piece of wood fence panel is transformed with stain and house numbers. This creative planter shows pride of ownership in Agoura Hills, California. Photo - June 2017. Concept and planting by UCCE Master Gardener, Debra Leith who has a fondness for using troughs in gardening, especially in areas compromised by hungry wildlife. Debra also designed troughs for four of her school gardens in May 2016 as 'pollination stations' next to existing edibles gardens. These installations, planted by Big Sunday 2016 volunteers, with the OPUSD environmental theme, 'Love Bugs'. Filled with pollinator friendly, low water ornamentals, they are a food source for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other insects that also pollinate fruits & veggies.
