Mark Lara
Mark Lara is a California Naturalist and Environmental Specialist with the Washoe Tribe Environmental Protection Department. He is the acting manager of the Máyala Wáta Restoration Project at Meeks Meadow, CA. Mark is a descendant of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California and was raised on a family farm in the San Joaquin Valley. He made his way back to Tahoe as a Corpsmember with the California Conservation Corps, where he received valuable training and experience. There he joined the Forestry Corps and earned a certificate in general conservation from Lake Tahoe Community College. Mark continues his education in forestry both in the classroom and in the field. He is passionate and dedicated and feels incredibly blessed to work and steward his ancestral lands which he shares a deep connection to.
