Summer Camp

I am from San Diego County 4-H. I started 4-H when I was 7 years old, and it has become the greatest decision I have made. This is my 8th year of being apart of this delightful youth program. As a youth member of 4-H I have been offered various opportunities and learning experiences to further build upon the leader 4-H has made me today. One 4-H experience specifically that made me fall in love with 4-H is 4-H summer camp. 4-H summer camp is my second home. Over the years, camp has given me a safe escape from reality. A place that has truly had an impact on me for the good and that has overall enhanced the person I am today. The first day I attended 4-H summer camp was not only the most significant day of my life, but it was the day I fell in love with 4-H . 4-H summer camp brought me a memorable place, that provided me with friends who soon became family, memories I wouldn’t trade for anything and overall endless love for all that I am. My first day of camp affected me immensely mainly because it was my first 4-H experience that soon made me love the idea of being a 4-H participant . 4-H summer camp has provided me with a unique experience to learn how to become a leader and set an example for those around me, work with adults on planning a memorable week and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. When I entered my first day of camp, I had no idea that it would soon become the week I look forward to every year, but most importantly grateful to have. By being one of the lucky figures to have been exposed to 4-H camp and 4-H in general, it has made me the leader I am proud to be today. I have changed significantly in a number of ways since the life changing day I stepped foot there. From being a shy 7 year old, fearful of putting herself out there, to being on executive staff as a team leader. Most of all, 4-H summer camp is the greatest gift life could have ever given me and it is a truly amazing experience that I believe everyone should have.
