The 4-H Year runs July 1st through June 30th each year.

The 4-H Youth Development Program offers many fun and educational activities for its members. When you join a community club, you meet new friends, make a difference in your community, develop leadership skills, learn about public speaking and record keeping and participate in county fair.

4-H members choose projects that interest them. A variety of projects are offered including but not limited to:

  • Animal Care (large, small, farm and domestic animals)
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Science
  • Foods & Nutrition
  • Community Service
  • Leadership, and much more!

Club and project meetings occur after school, in the evenings or on the weekends. The number of project meetings depends on the project and the volunteer leading that project. The purpose of these meetings is to guide the members in gaining knowledge, attitudes, skills and habits needed to complete their project successfully.

The University of California 4-H Youth Development program is committed to providing research-based, hands-on educational programs to all youth in San Diego County.  To this end, these programs are available to after school programs, educators, and youth development program staff.

For additional information about these enrichment programs, please contact the County 4-H Office at (858) 298-5895.
