The California 4-H equine educational contests offers 4-H members the chance to showcase the culmination of their efforts put forth in their equine projects throughout the year. Members are able to showcase their equine knowledge in three contests: Hippology, Horse Judging, and Public Speaking. These contests are the CA qualifier for the Western National Roundup National Competition.

Please note that national competitions are currently being held virtually or may be canceled due to the pandemic.

This year's Hippology and Horse Judging contests are being held virtually in partnership with Purdue University. The virtual format and content for this contest was created with Horse Extension Specialists in Indiana, Michigan and Oklahoma.

The contests will be hosted through the eXtension Learning Management System which require each participant to have their own eXtension account requiring a unique email address. To set up multiple accounts on a shared email address, visit the technology page for instructions.
