Organic: Processed Foods & Cosmetic Products

Regulated by California Department of Public Health Organic Food Processors Program

Registration:

• Organic Processed Product Registration (OPPR) is required for all entities that handle and/or make processed food or cosmetics that are sold as organic. 
• OPPR application.
• Note: Processed Food Registration is required for processors before OPPR can be issued.

Certification: 

• If gross sales of organic product exceeds $5,000 or if the business wants to use the USDA Organic seal, they must obtain organic certification from an Accredited Certifier Operating in California.

Food Product Labels:

*(minus water and salt)

Cosmetic Product Labels:

May be labeled "organic" or "made with organic" if the product contains a minimum organic content of 70% (minus water and salt).
