Selling Ag Products
You've grown the produce, poultry and/or livestock, now what? Time to sell.
You have options:
Sell at Certified Farmer's Markets - this requires a Certified Producer Certificate from the CDFA along with a possible health permit (but probably not).
Sell from a Farm Stand on the property where the produce grows. This is allowed by right in agricultural zones and is relatively easy to do.
Retail Sales from your farm. If you want to create more of a store setting then this is the direction you will take.
Sell by the Pound - regardless of what produce you are selling or where you are selling it, you will need to quantify it to put a price on it. If you choose to use a scale, you'll need to get it certified. There are alternatives to selling by weight.
