Heritage Rose Garden

The Heritage Roses throughout the garden and along the perimeter are all rescued from old home sites, ranches, cemetery plots, roadsides and private collections.  They represent our history in Calaveras county and adjoining areas.  Except for a few near the propagation area, these Roses are considered old. We have a few species roses, Ramblers, Bourbons, Teas, Hybrid Perpetuals, Albas etc.  While some roses are well known and can still be found in commerce, others remain a mystery.  We work closely with rose experts to identify our treasures and to share our collection.  The Heritage Roses are both our living history and our “mother” stock.  The “mother “roses help to ensure their survival.
