Soils

The University of California does not provide soil or plant tissue testing services for growers.  There are a number of laboratories that do provide this service.

Foothill Soils: link to our soils page found under the Viticulture menu. Provides information and links to access the soil survey online via UC Soils Specialist Toby O'Geen's Soil Web.  Useful for growers of all crops.

Diagnosing Soil Physical Problems: link to FREE UC publication.  Scan of historic UCANR leaflet first printed in 1976, still a valuable resource.  By UC Soils Extension Specialist William Wildman.

Web Soil Survey - Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It is operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world.
