What Is Reappointment?

Every year, on June 1st, volunteers will receive an email with a link to the Annual Volunteer Agreement and Reappointment Request form. This form is a formal request to be reappointed as a Master Composter (MC) for the next program year. If this form is not filled out by June 28th, volunteers are resigned and dropped from the program.

The form is simple. You need to be aware of the number of hours that you have volunteered and the number of Continuing Education (CE) hours that you have obtained.

Once filled out and submitted, you will receive an email letting you know that your request has been received and you are done or that your request is under review. Once all requests have been received, you will receive a final email letting you know that you have been reappointed. In rare cases, you may be contacted because you made the wrong choice on your request form.

Volunteer Requirements for Reappointment

During Initial Training, volunteers are considered Trainees; After Training, volunteers are considered First Year volunteers, and are required to complete 50 hours of volunteer time over the course of the next program year, to be considered for reappointment in June.

On July 1 of that following program year, all volunteers who have met the requirement are considered Master Composters and are eligible to receive program swag and are required to complete 25 hours of Volunteer service plus 12 hours of Continuing Education over the course of the next program year and each program year thereafter

Volunteer Hours Reported

A copy of the Volunteer Hours report is emailed out to the volunteers at the beginning of the month, every other month, so volunteers can verify that they have recorded all of their volunteer and continuing education time for the current program year.  Reports are posted here at the end of each quarter.  Our Program Year runs July 1 to June 30.
