Limited Submissions

What is a Limited Submission?

Limited Submissions occur when a sponsor imposes a limit on the number of proposals an institution can submit to a funding opportunity. These Limited Submission programs must be internally coordinated to ensure that UC ANR only submits the allowable number of proposals.

Internal Limited Submission Process:

When limited submission programs arise, the Office of Contracts and Grants, Proposal Development Services coordinates an internal process for selecting the applicant(s) who may submit to that funding opportunity. An internal call for limited submission proposals will be announced. Requested materials will vary by call, however, typically will include a two-page description of the project, CV or Biosketch, and a budget draft.

If we receive more applicants than allowable by the sponsor, a committee of a minimum of three Advisor and Cooperative Extension Specialist peers will be selected to review and score the proposals based on review criteria that mirrors the sponsor's criteria. Criteria will vary by program, however, typically will focus on responsiveness to the sponsor's goals and objectives, soundness of the proposed approach, and qualifications of the proposing team.

Applicants selected to move forward will need to follow standard proposal procedures and submit the final proposal for institutional review and approval through the Grant Tracking System at least 5 days prior to sponsor's submission deadline.
