Grape Managment, Summary
Fumigation clearly has an advantage on nematode control and grape yield at least in the short term after replanting new grapes. With low permeability plastic films, rate of fumigants may be reduced without compromising pest control efficacy. The added benefit with low permeable films are emissions reductions which are being adopted by regulatory agencies on buffer zone restrictions and township caps for 1,3-D users. Because grapes are long term perennial crops, we plan to continue monitor nematode population and grape yield to determine the duration of fumigation effects on controlling nematodes and yield responses.
