Solutions

Extension & Delivery > Solution

Developing appropriate solutions and policies takes time and effort. Whether you educate your clientele on farming, food, pests, the environment, wildfire, youth development or nutrition you must consider what is practical and relevant to meet the need. To determine best solution(s) its important to determine if it is good. Use this technology assessment sheet to evaluate the fit of a recommendation to clarify:

1. The target users (audience) for the technology and the problem being addressed
2. Articulate requirements for and benefits of the technology
3. Identify where the technology could be applied and cost implications

Policy Work

UCANR has a long history of providing research that informs, builds and strengthens policy related to agriculture, natural resources, nutrition, family and youth development, and community development. Public policy is essential for supporting, governing, funding, and evaluating work taking place in the agricultural, natural, and social sectors in which ANR personnel work. Research is an essential ingredient in designing good public policy, and ANR is a key player in generating, translating, and disseminating results of rigorous peer-reviewed research.

Use this Towards Policy Engagement (fact sheet). This primer for policy engaged research and extension will help you situate your policy work, give you examples of effective ways to design research for maximum policy impact and provide you effective policy engagement strategies.

Use this Policy Manual to help you documenting and support policy efforts and impacts
