1) Leadership: A Minimum of Two [2] Adults

There must always be a minimum of 2 adults with youth members at all program, events, and activities.

The two adults may be:

Two appointed volunteers (best practice)
One appointed volunteer and another adult who is at least 21 years of age

Additionally, the adult in charge must be an appointed 4-H volunteer, as established by the County Director.

Scenario One

Parents drop off their children who walk in to a project meeting. The adult leader arrives but there is no sign of the extra parent who had signed up to attend. Can the meeting start? Double click the correct answer below.

2) Transporting Youth(s)

If two adults cannot be present in the vehicle, the alternative minimum is one adult and two or more youth members per vehicle.

An adult should not be alone with a youth (other than his or her own child).

3) Sleeping Facilities

Two or more appointed volunteers may sleep in a room with multiple youths
Unrelated adults and youths should not share beds together

4) Restroom Use

It is strongly suggested that separate shower and bathroom facilities be provided for mixed-gender groups.
When separate facilities are not available, separate times for male and female use should be scheduled and posted.
