Translation Equipment for Use in the Southern Region
Equipo de traducción simultánea para la Región Sur

A portable, battery-operated FM sound system that can be used for simultaneous translations at meetings, workshops, tours, and field days. The translator/interpreter speaks into a portable battery-powered microphone transmitter, and each participant listens through a receiver with a headphone. ANR personnel in the Southern Region need to call our office or e-mail Ricardo Vela to reserve the equipment.

Translation Peer Review Process
The process of translating ANR publications or materials is made up of two stages: an evaluation of the translation request and a review of the translation. Complete information for authors, as well as a Translation Request Form that can be downloaded from Communication Services website or requested from, Ricardo Vela Spanish Language Materials Associate Editor, or directly from Communication Services' editorial office, (530) 754-5110.

Lending Reference Libraries  Bibliotecas ambulantes de referencia
A collection of five lending reference libraries. ANR personnel may borrow any of these materials, free of charge. To receive information on any of these libraries, please send a request to: Ricardo Vela. We will send you a catalog and loan information.

  Communicate in Spanish! Learn Español at Your Own Pace. A lending library of multi-media materials to learn or practice Spanish. The library includes: video tapes, CD-ROMS, CDs, cassette tapes, textbooks, workbooks, scripts, flash cards and dictionaries. A very popular resource--DESTINOS--that has been broadcast on PBS is part of this collection of learning tools. The materials are arranged in six categories: beginning, beginning/intermediate, intermediate, intermediate/advanced, advanced, and for all levels.
  Working with the Media. A collection of resources on working effectively with the general and the Spanish-language media.
  Latino/Hispanic Issues. A collection of eight mini-libraries focusing on Latino/Hispanic issues:

  •   Mexican History and Culture

  Multicultural Awareness: A collection of resources on intercultural communication and awareness: customs, beliefs, regional dialects, religious beliefs, food and nutrition, linguistic differences, etc.
  Personal and Professional Development: A collection of audio programs, books, handbooks and "50-minute books" from SkillPath, National Press, American Management Association, Nightingale Connant, and Crisp Publications.
