Livestock Proficiency

2025 Proficiency Day

Date: TBA

Livestock Proficiency Day is a one day clinic to test species knowledge and pass levels to earn medals. Members must be present for the showmanship and judging clinics to pass, so plan to stay through lunch. Results to be returned at the end of the event. 4-H will utilize the knowledge and skills of MJC students as teachers and coaches experienced in dairy, swine, sheep, beef, dairy goats, and meat goats. Identification and written tests will be done on-site.

  • Location: Ag Pavilion, MJC West Campus
  • Date: TBA
  • Registration: Coming soon!
  • QR Code (Registraton): Coming soon!
  •
  • Entry Fee: FREE
  • Pre-registration is required and due by TBA
  • Only one species and one level may be tested per year
  • You must be present at the clinics to pass the level

4-H members do not need to be enrolled in one of the livestock projects to participate. We do not keep records on the partial completion of levels, therefore members take all parts of the level on each attempt to pass.

Entries are limited to 1 species, single level. Must be present at Level One Showmanship to complete the level.

You must have passed the previous level to take any level above level one. Leaders may sign an authorization for members to begin testing at Level II instead of Level I, however, this is not recommended.
