4-H Management Committees
Five different 4-H Management Committees oversee growth and operations of the Sacramento County 4-H Youth Development Program. These groups provide important support and direction for the program, build financial resources to support our mission, and develop a vision to promote all we are and can be. Youth and adults are welcome to apply for any of the committees listed below. 4-H seeks individuals whose leadership and skills will support our efforts through:
- Fund Development
- Community Outreach and Promotion
- Awards and Recognition
- Program Evaluation

The Club Program
The 4-H Club Program is the oldest and most established of our delivery methods, 4-H Community Clubs are found throughout the county and offer the opportunity for hands-on learning for children ages 5 to 19. 4-H Clubs meet monthly and are youth planned and led.
We especially have need of adult volunteers who would like to lead 4-H projects in an area of interest. Additional information about the 4-H Club Program is found on the 4-H Club Program page, please follow the link in the left toolbar.
4-H Resident Camp Program
Adults work side-by-side with high school students to create an annual week-long 4-H Resident Camp experience during the summer. Planning begins in the fall, and the team meets monthly to design and deliver a fun, educational program for campers ages 9-14 in an overnight camp setting.
Camp Job Descriptions, applications and camper registration forms may be found at 4-H Resident Camp

Youth Experience in Sciences (YES) Program
The 4-H Youth Experiences in Science curriculum is designed to foster inquiry and engage children ages 5 to 8 in the process of exploration.
4-H On The Wild Side
4-H On The Wild Side Program brings environmental education and an outdoor living experience to fourth, fifth, and sixth grade children who have limited opportunity to explore wild places or sleep under the stars. Teenage volunteers plan and deliver the program which takes place on a weekend at a resident camp in Nevada City. High school students seeking a meaningful way to connect with and serve their community are invited to apply for a staff position.
“I had an awesome time. The students were very respectful and eager to learn. I liked best the community, learning new things and meeting new people.” –2013 Teen Teacher
“When I first started volunteering, working with the teens was a little intimidating to me. I now feel much more comfortable and really enjoy being a coach.” –2013 Adult Volunteer
