Employees on curtailment
- Please remember to set your Out-of-Office notification for your email, for example: “Thank you for your message. Please note that UC ANR is observing the official UC curtailment during the holiday period, from December 24, 2024, to January 1, 2025, and we will get back to you as soon as we can upon return.”
- Employees have the option of using accrued vacation, compensatory time off (CTO) or leave without pay for the curtailment days. Employees with insufficient accrual may arrange with their supervisor to borrow against future vacation time.
Employees working (by exception only)
- If you are working, please avoid creating additional workload for curtailed employees and hold off on sending emails or service requests until after the curtailment and “down time” period is over.
- Some systems access may be impacted during the curtailment dates. If you are approved to work, please contact UCANRIT@ucanr.edu to confirm you'll be able to access UC ANR systems during the closure.
Time Reporting – The Time Reporting System (TRS) does not currently have the curtailment dates automatically identified/shaded. UC ANR employees are still able to enter leave or time worked per day as appropriate based on local need. Monthly Paid employees should remember to enter vacation hours on those 3 curtailment days. If you are a monthly paid employee who has been specifically approved to work over any of those 3 curtailment days, please do not enter any leave time on those days that you are working. If borrowing against future vacation, usage should be entered on the timesheet as it will allow the balance to go into the negative and will be caught up with future accruals. Feel free to contact ANRPayroll@ucanr.edu for more details.
If you have any additional questions related to the curtailment efforts, please contact humanresources@ucanr.edu.

Updated winter curtailment dates
Due to time reporting issues and current systems constraints, we are implementing a minor change to the UC ANR Curtailment dates. As we recently announced, similar to previous years, UC ANR units – including, Research and Extension Centers, UCCE county offices, the Second Street Building in Davis, and the UCOP Franklin Building – will undergo operational curtailment, from Dec. 25, 2023, through Jan. 2, 2024, except for essential services. UC ANR offices will reopen on Jan. 3, 2024.
UC locations occasionally utilize different holiday dates to meet their local needs, however, as Time Reporting System (TRS) issues came to light for this curtailment cycle, UCOP, UC Davis and UCPath have coordinated to align the dates for time reporting. Many of you may have seen these differing dates, due to ongoing changes by these locations. As a result, UC ANR has also joined in making those changes to ensure there are no payroll concerns during the holiday break.
