Colusa, Yuba and Sutter counties would especially benefit from a 4-H Youth Development Advisor. The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau has seen time and again how local 4-H programs benefit youths in our area, including a large fraction that is underserved in the community. A 4-H advisor with such experience as a master’s degree would greatly enhance our current programs, while providing new opportunities for growth and exceptional leadership skills to local youths.

The 4-H program for Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties provides for a "learn by doing" structure which sparks the interest of young minds and helps them develop into productive adults. Many youth who have participated in the program have successfully graduated from high school, college, and proven to be productive members of the community.

A 4-H Youth Advisor position is needed to facilitate an expansion of the program to reach more underserved youth with the three county areas. The Advisor position will be able to develop new innovative youth programs, apply for grant funding to support the programs, and provide leadership and training to parent volunteers who are providing the various programs to the youth.

Sutter County is committed to supporting 4-H youth development programs at the local level. The 4-H programs provide necessary leadership skills training to assist in preparing for young adulthood. The 4-H Youth Development Advisor position would be a tremendous asset in continuing to provide support to the volunteers working at the local 4-H level. The Sutter County CAO supports this request.
