2. How do I find a mature specimen near where I live?
Overview
Chinese Pistache in fall color
If you are unsure about your selection and want to see a mature tree of that species growing nearby, try a local arboretum where the trees are mapped and labeled. In your own city, check the city’s web site for the department that manages trees, usually Public Works or Parks and Recreation. Check your local bookstore. Many cities and some botanical gardens have produced books that show color photos of trees and the street addresses where they can be found.
