The 4-H Youth Development program offers Marin youth ages 5-19 valuable life skills in leadership, community service, and citizenship.
Our program staff continued to partner with Conservation Corps North Bay to train and support youth development trainers. This resulted in the second year of the Environmental Stewardship Project, reaching over 1,000 youths and adults.
Increasing Science Literacy
Integrated with State and Federal Science, Engineering & Technology or SET initiative, our Marin youth development team continues to provide innovative opportunities to increase science literacy and reduce gap in education performance of Marin youth. This included delivery of the 2010 Junior Naturalist Summit and contributions to the Marin County Peer Summit. Additionally, our classroom embryology project continues to delight grammar school children. This year, nearly 400 classroom students have had the opportunity to incubate eggs and see the hatching of their very own chicks.

“As I start my second semester here at Sonoma State University, I cannot help but to reflect on the positive impact 4-H has made upon me. Last semester I received a G.P.A. of 3.83 and am currently on the Dean’s List! I truly feel without your endless support of 4-H over the last ten years this would not be the case. 4-H has opened a door allowing for us all to gain leadership skills, take pride in giving back to our community and teaching others to be leaders. Thank you again for your dedication to youth today.”
