Planning a garden, planting the seeds and watching them grow give kids a sense of purpose and responsibility. ... Furthermore, studies show that when children have contact with soil during activities like digging and planting, they have improved moods, better learning experiences and decreased anxiety.
Youth Gardening has an active program of presentations with Fresno County Libraries. We present an after school program for elementary age students at Betty Rodriquez Library on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:00 pm. We present a program for young adults (middle school through high school) at the Woodward Park Library on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 4:30-5:30 pm. Currently all Library programs are on hold.
Youth Gardening Program Mission Statement:
Our goal is to educate the youth in our community in UC research-based gardening concepts, through fun, interactive, hands-on experiences.
