What is an active ingredient? 

An active ingredient is the chemical(s) in a product that are responsible for the pesticidal effect. What is on a pesticide label?  Labels contain information on product name, active ingredients, precautionary statements, application procedures, preventative measures, target pest and signal words, statement of practical treatment, hazards and storage and disposal directions.
